Step 11 : Visa step 2 : Take the appointment

Wait for at least 2 business days for your bar code number to get activated. Then go to vfs-usa.co.in. Apply for non-immigrant visa.
Take the date.

Note: You are not allowed to take the visa appointment 120 days before the date mentioned on your I-20.

You will need to fill the DS156, 157 and if needed, 158 forms while taking the appointment. Fill the forms carefully. You can edit the forms before you submit the hard copy, so don't worry. Remember, you cannot submit the forms online. You only fill the forms online. After all the forms are done, you will get their PDF files in mail. Download these files, take their printouts and then submit the hard copy. Before submitting the hard copy, you can make as many changes as you want to your forms because, as I said, they are not submitted until you submit the hard copy. The actual step of taking the date is done after filling up all the forms.
