Step 10 : Visa step 1 : Pay the fees.

This should be done by May end, because dates fill up quickly. You need to go to a HDFC bank to pay Rs. 4522. It can be paid in cash or by a DD. You need to take a photo copy of your passport with you too. You don't need to go personally. Your parents can do this for you. You will get a receipt, with a bar code. The number on the bar code is used in the future. You cannot take a visa appointment till you complete this step.

The fee receipt is valid for 1 year. Only one visa can be issued on one fee receipt.
